About the Stakeholder Workshop

This event brings researchers and stakeholders from academic and non-academic communities together with partners from three projects – viz., PAlaeo-Constraints on Monsoon Evolution and Dynamics (PACMEDY), Globally Observed Teleconnections and their role and representation in Hierarchies of Atmospheric Models (GOTHAM) and Better understanding of Inter-regional Teleconnections for prediction in the Monsoon And Poles (BITMAP) of the JPI-Belmont Forum Collaborative Research Action (CRA) on Climate Predictability and Inter-Regional Linkages, to cover complementary aspects of monsoon variability, predictability and change, by considering different space and time scales.
By bringing together the results of the three aforesaid projects, new insights are gained for adaptation and risk management. These projects were aimed to provide new resources for the needs of climate services. However, there is also a need to fill the gap between academic outcomes and user needs. In this respect, the stakeholder forum intends to provide the following:

Information on the results, so as to enhance the impact of this research and improve result dissemination,
Provide access to the latest results, and identify how they can lead to improved decision making or improved policies for adaptation to climate change and improvements to risk management, and
Phrasing “science for action” relevant questions to be addressed in future projects.

The 3-day meeting will be organized with session project presentations, stakeholder interest and requests, breakout-group sessions on cross-cutting issues and co-design of targeted products with stakeholders to provide clearer definition of desired outcomes, and key questions to be addressed in future projects.
