How to reach IITM

Institute is located in the City of Pune which is approximately 160 km east of Mumbai and is well connected by Air, Rail & Road. The postal address of IITM is reflected in the home page of this site.

To Reach By Air: From Pune Airport

Pune airport is situated at Lohegaon, 15 km away from the city centre.. Pune airport is served by almost all domestic carriers. The visitors coming from abroad don’t find a direct flight to pune can come to Mumbai International Airport. Mumbai to Pune is less than half an hour flight. Reaching Pune airport, one can avail Pre-paid Taxi/Auto-rickshaw services at the airport premises. The nearest landmark for our Institute is NCL (National Chemical laboratory).

To Reach By Air: From Mumbai Airport

An Alternate choice to reach IITM from the Mumbai International Airport is to rent a cab from the airport itself, and arrive Pune within 4 hours via the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Approximate fare to book a taxi from the Mumbai International airport is Rs 2500. There are also some air-conditioned Bus services available at the Mumbai Airport to Pune. The daytime road journey via the Mumbai-Pune Expressway is a real feast for the eyes and the gorgeous Western Ghats will mesmerize you all the way.

To Reach By Train

The Pune Railway station is 14 km away from the IITM. Pune is connected to Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) (originally known as the VT -> Victoria Terminus) by a number of Express trains. Connection to other parts of the country via the rail route is also fairly good enough, covering places like Delhi, Kolkata, Nagpur, Raipur, Allahabad, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, etc. For a detailed list of the availability of train services to any part of the country please have a look at the Indian Railways own site, where you can book your e-tickets. To come from Pune Station to IITM, one can avail the Auto-Rickshaw or the Taxi service.
