IITM has singed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bikaner Technical University, Bikaner to Strengthen Climate Research and Observations on 20th Feb 2026
The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bikaner Technical University, Bikaner, Rajasthan, on 20 February 2026 through online mode. The MoU was signed by Dr. A. Suryachandra Rao, Director, IITM, and Dr. Akhil Ranjan Garg, Vice Chancellor, Bikaner Technical University.
The MoU aims to promote collaborative research on climate change and long-term observations of climate variables, including meteorological parameters and climate-active trace gases, such as greenhouse gases and short-lived climate forcers. The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, and the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC), Italy, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaborative research in climate modeling, weather prediction, and ocean science using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).
The MoU follows the successful international workshop on “Machine Learning Applications in Climate and Ocean Science,” held in Pune from 11–12 February 2025. The workshop brought together leading scientists from Italy and India to explore next-generation AI and ML applications in meteorology, oceanography, and climate research. The event served as a milestone in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration between the two nations to enhance predictive capabilities and accelerate AI-driven advancements in climate science.
